The short answer: don't write to trends. Write what you want to write, because they're buying books 2 years before they will be available in stores. If you write to a trend, you will already be behind the curve. No one's sure what's going to happen with e-books, but contrary to what you might hear, publishers are throwing money into experiments to find out what works best.

I'm curious about what trends they're foreseeing in the market when it comes to themes (i.e. vampires) and the market in general (more ebooks, print dying). I just wonder what the pros see ahead for the publishing world.

No specific questions from me ((unless it's whether folks think that e-book serials are really going to take off), but I look forward to hearing all about it. Hey, a week on Martha's Vineyard sounds great even if it didn't have an interesting writer's workshop attached to it. :-)

Unfortunately my questions usually arise as a result of whatever's talked about, so it's hard for me to generate them ahead of time... But as others have said, I'd be curious to know your questions too! Even if they're "embarrassingly trivial." :P (Which they probably aren't!) I hope you have a blast! And do try to relax. You'll get more out of it that way. ;)

I understand your nervousness traveling. My distance vision lacks somewhat, so I usually have to backtrack after going the wrong way... no worries: we will both get there! Get some rest while you can!

hehe, I think there is. I remember I wanted to feel more grown up when I was a child, so I read older novels. I also read young adult and middle grade sometimes now that I'm an adult.

Oh dear, I've often wondered if there's a market for books written for "Children who feel like young adults and young adults who feel like children." It's not as complicated as it sounds, but its a heck of a lot of fun to read & write. :)
