Wow, that's great. I have a friend who went to Clarion in the early 1970s and he's been writing professionally ever since (of course, there were other factors -- but that was a big part of it).

The class list is impressive, isn't it? But we're all moving at our own pace with our own specialties. I made it in this year with a novel submission rather than my previous short story submissions. I'm not even going to compare. Our differences are going to help us in so many ways. And don't worry about being shy. I'm typically a little shy as well, until I get to know people. By the time the workshop gets here, I'm sure we'll all be really comfortable and be ready to jump into it. See you in October!

I was actually surprised that the instructors choose who to accept into the program, so they've already read my writing. (EEP!) I already know that some of the people going are agented, and way more experienced than me, but I think it runs the gamut. Thank you!

Wow. Congrats on getting into Viable Paradise. I've coveted attending one of these high-profile SF&F writing workshops for a while (Viable Paradise, Clarion, and I can't remember the others, but I know there's one or two more). But (a) they're usually expensive and (b) I've never had enough free time (and significantly less so, now). But I've heard lots of stories about how they can really kick-start a writing career, and definitely a big deal getting to hob-knob with the big names. Good luck! Not that I think you need it... I think this'll be a great way to your name and the quality of your work in front of the eyes of some important SF&F luminaries.
