Today it's almost 2 years since I began this blog. Where does time go?! I could sit here and look at all my goals at the outset, and how they turned out, but no, instead, I'd like to take a little time to count a few things I'm grateful for.
In no particular order:
- There was sunshine yesterday! Blue skies for once, instead of the usual overcast.
- I've finished a novel. *blinks* I've finished a novel, and I'm halfway through a draft of a second. It's not impossible!
- My apartment is warm and cozy despite the cold weather.
- I sold my first short story.
- That my laptop has not crashed yet. I work it hard, the poor baby.
- I enjoy my job. I may work with rather dry subject matter, but it's still writing. (I get paid for this??)
- All of YOU. Blog buddies, internet readers, who comment and who do not. Thank you for reading, and making me feel like part of a writing community, not so alone in trying to do this. You regularly inspire me to keep writing.
- The brave souls who volunteered to beta read. A million thanks. I can't say it enough.
- That E has been volunteering to cook more often.
- The colors of autumn, and the woody smells of the season.
- The internet. Don't know how to format a manuscript? No problem...
- Glorious stomachs pressed together, warm, smile inducing, lung emptying, bear hugs.
- Soy vanilla lattes. My stomach is very pleased to make your acquaintance.
What's one thing you've been thankful for lately?
This post? :-) Always good to remember these things.
And blog buddies, definitely.
And beta readers, and beta reading
And Twinings tea.
And warm flannel sheets at night. :-)
Flannel sheets sound brilliant now that the colder weather's settling in...
Thanks for sharing Anthony!
Eff yeah, bear hugs!
This is a great idea for an exercise, TS. Enjoyed all of your entries. Where did your first short story sell to?
Bear hugs are the best kind!
The story? To Innsmouth press (the gothic horror story)
It had somehow slipped my mind that this was your first short story sale. I was just excited in general for you landing at Innsmouth.
I loved this. So much, in fact, that I took the cue and did one of my own: http://www.tonynoland.com/2011/11/practicing-gratitude.html
Thanks!
Thanks Tony! Going to check out your list ;D
I am grateful for my blogging buddies--you all!--as well. :)
And my job. It's only seasonal (unless they decide to keep me), but it's something. Also my family 'cause I'd be homeless without them, lol. And they're so patient with me.
Me too (sending virtual hugs)!
Just a single thing? There are many, but if we're only listing one, I'll say Riley, my dog. He makes me laugh, makes me exercise, and keeps me warm at night. :)
Hee hee, you're the only one that actually followed the rules! (Not that I mind either way) Riley sure is a cutie pie ;)
Blog buddies, yes. The gang definitely has a nice circle going here, and if we ever all meet up at a writers' conference, none of us will have to sit alone. (Don't you hate that?!! Especially those conferences and events where you go and end up swirling around a glass of sparkling apple juice in the corner, with your arms folded, trying not to look as burningly awkward as you feel at the moment. Those are KILLER!!! Oh spare us all…)
..Oh, and uh, thanks for mentioning those of us who don't comment quite so often. ;p
LOL I've yet to go to a conference where I know anyone! One day Seph, one day ;) Thanks for dropping by!
Family. I'm eternally grateful for those who got stuck with me, but choose to stick around anyway. Carlos, The Monster, my mom...I am truly blessed.
Thanks for this post, Teresa.
You're welcome ;)
"Blogging buddies", yes. I'm grateful for all of you who stop by and read me every so often, and for the interesting things you all write.
I'm also really grateful for my family: for my wife and my dear little B.T.
Thanks for sharing Stephen ;)
