How now, spirit! whither wander you?

Over hill, over dale,
Thorough bush, thorough brier,
Over park, over pale,
Thorough flood, thorough fire...

To the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Festival. A bonny weekend was had by all. A few of the details:

Bottles

Pretty bottles to quench your thirst! (I can't help but think they should be full of glowing mana potion)

fox tails

Fox tails and other wares. What happened to the rest of the fox?!

Skeleton

No turkey legs for this poor fellow...

knives

Hand ground knives of all shapes and sizes.

dresses

Silken brocades in abundance.

Pirate things

Watch out for pirates are afoot!

I have more photos to share with you on Thursday. Stay tuned!

I love the bottles! ^_^ Did you buy any of those? (Or perhaps a costume for next time? ;))

    • I didn't! But I'm tempted to start a collection ;) No costumes, but I did come back with ideas. I am quite handy with a sewing machine so we shall see for next time!

It just looks fun. Been too long since I've been to such an event. Loved them when I was a kid.

Awesome pics T! I would've bought a pirate sword for display. I know someone that makes all kinds of costumes...it's an amazing skill.

Hmm...Those bottles would be a perfect hiding place for Polyjuice potion ;)

Back a long, long, time ago, when I worked fair, I sometimes played with a peasant guild. One of their "gigs" was to take a fox-tail (or we liked to call them weasel-tails), clip it to a guild newbie, and run through the fair trying to whack the fox/weasel off them. This was mostly play-hitting, but the goal was to chase them through all the crowds and make people think we were really picking on the poor individual.

Yes, most of our games were best if they threatened bodily injury (however, I think we avoided ever actually hurting someone). Well, except for our guild-master who liked egging the children of participants into using their wooden swords they talked their parents into buying on their siblings.

    • I can see how the threat of bodily injury would work well in this context! Sounds like it must have been fun to work the fair :)

I think these stains may be permanent.
