Summer Days

Desks are empty, my inbox is empty, and the office is quiet. It must be summer!  I quite like the calm of the moment, but I’m sure things will pick up again soon. In the meantime, here are some photos from around town this summer:

Most people are trying to make the most of the sunny days before we return to our usual drizzly grey Vancouver days. Hope you’ve been enjoying some of the summer as well :)

  1. It’s so oppressively hot here – and apparently also the dry season, so no rain hardly ever – that’s it’s pretty hard to “enjoy” the summer where I am.

There’s lots of fun summer-stuff going on, and going to the pool and whatnot. But we have to try to do everything either very early in the morning or more towards the latter part of the evening, to avoid the afternoon heat.

    1. It seems the heat is everywhere but here (where our summer has been unseasonably cold and wet). ;(

That kind of oppressive hotness is not fun to deal with.

      1. “Stilt fiddler…” What can I say, when I first saw the caption I misread it and had a good laugh.

    1. Then you may be relieved to know that while the giant snake is capable of motion… I spent most of the time observing the engineers curse in frustration and tinker with their laptops because it wasn’t working right ;)

  2. I like the picture of the stilt fiddler. The Economist had a neat article on Zoobotics that seemed primed for use in world-building. I haven’t done anything with it yet, but it’s on my list. The snake looks like it would be fun to see in action.
