Today one story ends. We find out what happened to Jane and Stefan. Alice's present day story finishes up next week. I'm a little sad about that.

Alan pulled a handgun from his pocket. He continued to speak to Mihail. “Something like Alice is not natural, and it would be dangerous to let her loose on this earth. Thanks to your books, Mihail, I know all about that.”
The words flowed as if her father had repeated them many times over, familiar, expected. Alice’s heart shattered like glass inside her chest. She could feel the coldness spreading, but she fought for control.
“How can you think that, Daddy?” It had been so many years since she’d called him so.
“Have you looked in a mirror?” He aimed the revolver, eyebrows knit together into a scowl. He wore the same expression when a photograph did not turn out the way he wanted it to.
In the wild discotheque of leaves, moonlight, and shadows, Alice’s skin shone midnight blue, and her hair gleamed silver. Yes she was a monster, but so was he.
