Oh yes :)

Dragons are one of my favorite fantasy memes. There's so much depth and symbolic power that you can mine there. :)

Very cool story - I love that the dragon broke his chain as he rose to her defense, proving it had been his choice all along to stay. Very touching.

One little comment: She led a sheep in the opening sentence, one that was donated by the kitchen, but he somehow had morphed into a goat when she tied it up!

I heart dragons. You do a wonderful job here elevating this to an adult fairy tale. Super writing. Peace...

Great approach to dragons. The character of the old woman and her thoughts do a great job at making the story. I particularly liked her realization that the chains meant nothing to a dragon. The only line that didn't work for me was the "but she didn't think of those things" because it implies that she isn't thinking what we've just been told she's thinking. However, the piece is filled with so much interior monologue that works so well, you certainly aced these aerobics.

That was so sweet. I was nervous that this would go to a dark place but it didn't, and I'm glad. I think I need to go hug a cat now. And maybe my husband.

Keeping dragons as pets is rightly illegal, but what about keeping them as reincarnated lovers? I'll ask the magistrate.
